Frequently Asked Questions

What is the process to apply for accreditation?

Application for NMAO accreditation involves a self-evaluation of your program against the NMAO standards and submission of an application, which includes narrative explanations and evidence of your program’s compliance with the standards. You can start any time at accredit.nmao.us.

How long will it take to receive a response from the NMAO board?

The Accreditation Board reviews each application after it is received to discuss findings from a thorough review. Following completion of the review process, the board renders a decision, after which formal notification is sent to you.

How long is accreditation granted, and what are the steps to maintain it?

Accreditation is granted for one year. A periodic report is required for all accredited martial arts schools, providing statistics and any updates for the program, and is reviewed to ensure continued compliance with the NMAO standards as changes are implemented.
